Today I had an appointment with the radiologist.
Not much to it. They mapped out the places where the radiation is desired.
The purpose is to ensure the the exact location is radiated each time.
They actually tapped my head to the table with 3-M masking tape to make sure I did not move my head.
Along with this, I received several small tatoos, to align the equiptment for each treatment.
They also did a low power fluoroscope scan that looks like an x-ray to help align things.
When we begin the actual radiation on thursday, It will look identical to this. Here's a picture of the actual thing we did today. Notice the masking tape.
Meanwhile...
I am keeping two logs.
The first log keeps record of the medication, the dose & exact day and time it was taken.
The 2nd log records the vitamins used & the amount each day.
I cannot emphasize the importance of this. Especially since I am often drowsey & tired and can not trust myself to remember if & when a medication was taken.
The log also records any use of Xanax, an excellent medication that is used to curb anxiety and also is a good sleeping aid.
Usually, I will take one Xanax about an hour before retiring. It takes awhile before it kicks in.
It does help me get some important sleep.
The problem is, I then sleep so well that I usually wake up after a few hours. It feels like I slept for a long time, but then I look at the clock only to find it was only a few hours.
While sleeping I usually will prespire at sometime during the sleep. Sometimes this does wake me.
I don't mind this because I always did believe that this was a way to sweat out the bad stuff in your body.
This waking is usually a good time to get a good drink of bottled water and get up, move around, and check my email.
If I have anything useful to add to this web page, I do it at this time since my mind is a lot sharper after sleeping.
Working on the web page & answering email helps me get back to sleep.Thursday, 4/11/02, 11:00 AM
I'm actually looking forward to the radiation, this afternoon.
I believe God will guide the x-rays to do the job correctly.
About my picture, above,,
This Was a Polaroid shot that came out very dark.
A friend scanned it for me and emailed it back to me as a GIF
I then did a quick gamma correction using IrFanView. and i did a bad job. No, my hands are not amber & my face is not reddish, just bad light.Friday morning 4/12/02
I did not post anything last night.
After the radiation treatment yesterday, I wanted to get to sleep soon.
About the treatment; There was no feeling, no pain, and you could not tell it was happening.
The x-rays kill the cancer cells, and only some of the good cells.
I actually feel better after the treatment.
After leaving the treatment center, we stopped for a sandwich cause I was starving.
I feel great.
The only problem I have is my fine motor skills in my left arm are pretty much shot.
This is to be expected since there is swelling in the brain tumer.
Hopefully as we kill the tumor, the swelling will cease.
Some important things I am doing
For the past two weeks, I put in a lot of effort building up my immune system.
Massive doses of vitamins, minerals & herbs. This was to prepare me for the radiation.
NO TAP WATER !
Only distilled water.
I need at least 10 glasses of water every day to flush out the dead cancer cells. The healthy cells also need a lot of water.
No Coffee, only green tea.
That's all for now, Will try to resume later....
